Breast Reduction

Introduction

There are many varied cosmetic breast surgery procedures available to women according to the reason you would like the procedure and your envisaged end result. You may wish to increase or decrease the size of your breasts or need an uplift/Mastopexy.

Breast Uplift – many women, following the birth of their children and or breast-feeding, find that their breasts have deteriorated in terms of size, shape and feel. As the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts tend to lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag.. This surgical procedure is to reshape and raise sagging breasts without  altering the overall volume of the breast. Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin around the nipple.

Breast augmentation – it involves an operation where artifical means are used to increase the size and/or improve the shape of the breasts

Breast reduction – large oversized breasts can be disturbing to a woman by causing a host of both physical as well as psychological symptoms. This can be shoulder, neck and back pain and distortion of posture and in more severe cases make breathing difficult.
Although the main aim of the surgery is to reduce the volume and weight of the breast, cosmetic enhancement to fashion a normal shape remains equally important.

Gynaecomastia – Male Breast Reduction - The breast, whether male or female, is made up of basically two components. These are the glandular tissue component (firm and dense) and the  fatty tissue component (softer tissue). The ratio of glandular to fatty tissue  in any breast varies from individual to individual. Although strictly speaking gynaecomastia refers to enlargement of the glandular component of the breast, in reality for most patients there is both an excess of fat and glandular tissue.
